we wrote on the sidewalk
when no one was watching
this way to the ocean
and she took her clothes off
and waved at the traffic
but nobody noticed
it was a stupid world
ha da da da da da
ha da da da da da
ha da da da da da
our train leaves at midnight
there's light in the hallway
and bags on the curb now
where kids dress like soldiers
and bombs fill the windows
we'll marry in winter
in a stupid world
ha da da da da da
ha da da da da da
ha da da da da da
soon the trees will be green again
and the sun will be out
and the birds will return again
from the south
some suffer a blindness
of wild disappointment
despite good intentions
i showed her my scars then
she showed me her bruises
you're someone's salvation
in a stupid world
ha da da da da da
ha da da da da da
ha da da da da da

Performed by Matthew Ryan (Electric Guitar, Synth and Voice) and David Ricketts (Piano, Bass, Tambourine, Kick, High Verby Steel and Percussion)
Matthew Ryan is brilliant. The fact that he is not better known is criminal. May Day is spectacular, so is East Autumn Grin and Regret Over The Wires. Boxers successfully captures the spirit and grit of those albums, which in my opinion, are his best. Please keep making these fabulous albums Mr.Ryan! Mark Dempster
